Sketch Book Share

As promised I'm going to share another of my little books. I uploaded it and the other homer I got plus two cards I made yesterday. The cover isn't as pretty scanned as in person. Not sure what t he technique is called but I'd say something with a water spray, looks like the ocean. The little girls are done with colored pencils and glued to the front. The corners are the black old fashioned ones. This is a birthday book with the theme Happy Days, made by my friend Sandy. The page next to the cover was done by Sandy also. You can barely make out the cupcake but it's dry embossed and done like a stamp. The whole page is done in the same color as the cover, a kind of turquoise. The pink page is stamped and colored with markers and pens. This page was done by Sheila. The next page is stamped with a multicolored ink pad. It is a girl on the back of a dragon fly. The wings are glittered. This was done by Karla. The blue one in the second two is the back of the cover. Sandy also did this work. She is a very talented lady. The Happy Birthday page has a punched cake with diamond decorations. The heart is a charm. It has Made with Love on it. The page was made by Mary. Thank you ladies so much. I love belonging to this group. Everyone is so talented and sometimes come up with things that know one else would. It's exciting to work in these books because you never really know what the theme might be. The theme for my birthday books was Happy Times.


Tomorrow will be a super busy day for us as it's the Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation Banquet. Today we set up the bar and tomorrow we start serving. Seems like every year it gets earlier. Hope I have my ducks in a row. Every year the drink trend changes so hope I'm on top of it. It'll be fun and tiring, so you may not hear from me for a day or two.

Spring Card

Last night I was off to the County Spelling Bee. My granddaughter was in it for the 5th grade. There were sixteen competing. In the practice round a little over half missed their words. In the first round 8 went out. One of them being her. She was pretty bummed since last year she was 4th. These words were pretty hard, but she said it's ok, I'll just keep trying. On Sunday she and her mother's family are moving back to Homer, Alaska. I'm pretty sad to see her go. She promised she'd spend the summer down here. Her dad is really going to miss her, as he see her everyday at school when she's not living with him. She is real good company for him. She told me the other night how proud she was of him for all the things he does for his class and his coaching. He coached her basketball team. Then for the high school runs the clock and does stats. Anyway, I'm a pretty proud mom of all my kids and grandkids.

My share today was made by me and not exactly what I thought it would turn out like. The card is for a swap with a crayon resist. Bet you don't see the resist? The background is the shave cream technique. The center is stamped with Black. The stamp set is retired from Close to My Heart called Loves Me Loves Me Not. I colored the daisy with marker, then went over the pedals with crayon. I then sponged over the top with Sweet Leaf ink (CTMH), then wiped the ink off the pedals. I used a yellow crayon so maybe that was my problem. I thought it would be brighter. The ribbon is from Walmart. If someone is really good with this technique please leave a comment on where I can see if I did this wrong. Thank a bunch.

That's it for today. Tomorrow I'll try and share my little book that came. In fact I got another one yesterday. These are so cute. Stop again, I'll try something different next time I share my work. Not sure I like this card.

Card 2 of Swap

It's sun shine again today. I love it, spring and fall are my favorite seasons. Not to hot and not to cold. Had a great time yesterday. Had 11 ladies for the Event Calendar Workshop. Took us 4 hours to do everything. I kinda of screwed up and gave them the work info on one top, so said I'd make them one. Not sure what I was thinking. Had 3 tables and then rotated the months. Anyway they got them done. Some had a real twist on them. None looked exactly the same.

The card today is from the things I got in the mail. It's a fun card. The main background is the one I had to work with, it's a Happy Birthday Cuttle Bug folder, colored in yellow. I then layered Sunny Yellow cardstock (CTMH). The buttons are sewn on with yellow silk thread to the rick rack. These were both in the envelope. The stamp is Februarys Stamp of the Month Piece of Cake (CTMH). I colored it with markers . The saying is from the same stamp set. The inside says Happy Birthday. Today I need to make some cards for a different swap so I'll share it tomorrow.

Not much else happening in our world today. Chuck is working on rebuilding a portable bar for the Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation for Sat. I'm puttering with what I have left to do, ice chests and ice. Then I'm off to school.

New Swap

A sunny good morning to you all. I'm coming out of gloom and smiling big smiles the last couple of days. It has been gorgeous here the last 3 days. Yesterday I even took my jacket off. Spent the day in Wenatchee teaching a TIPS class. It was alot of fun with a great group of people. This class was held at the Spring Hill Marriott. It's not open yet, but is going to be a super classy place. I really enjoy going to some of these new and different places.

All righty on to the title of my blog share. I'm in a new swap. I hope you'll enjoy following what I come up with. In this particular swap, we had to come up with 12 of the same background for cards and an embellishment to go with them. When they come back each person gets 2 of 6 different backgrounds and an envelope with embellishments in it. You really can't tell what embellishment goes with what background. The rules are you have to use one or more of the embellishments that are sent to you for each card. I got 2 large flowers and 3 things that could be used for centers. 2 blue flowers and 3 yellowish flowers, some beautiful bronze ribbon and some yellow rick rack. With that said here is what I came up with for my first card. I always start with a white card. I then layered Vineyard Berry cardstock (CTMH) on it. Next came the background. This background is done bronze metal cardstock, it was run through the Cuttle Bug, I'm not sure of the file name. A Technique Junkie technique called Patina was then put on it. This give a gold tone to it. I'm not sure you can see it in the scan. I used one of the big flowers with the jewel, it's just a little darker than the background color. The backing behind the Thank You is shiny Gold cardstock (from stash). The Thank You is on Gold Rush cardstock (CTMH) and stamped with Vineyard Berry ink (CTMH). The Thank You is from Curly Sentiment (retired CTMH). It's simply, yet looks nice.

I did get my calendar tops all done. Now have 12 coming tomorrow, so have some cutting today as I only cut for 11. That's ok, I'm not turning anyone away. It'll be fun. Thanks for stopping by, come again.

Some More Calendar Tops

Man, I have so many things going on, I'm not getting much done. I did get some of my tops done, have one more to go. Having a real hard time, it's for Sept. Should I go school or fair? Both happen here in Sept. Better get it figured out soon as the workshop is Sunday. Here are todays share. The one on the right is for June. It's base is from Giggles & Grins paper pack level 2 (retired), then Sunny Yellow cardstock. The stamp set is Summertime, stamped in black and colored with markers. It has Black Bitty Brads in the corners. The card on the left is for August. I know your thinking what up with this idea. Well, in August we have the Stampede and Suicide Race so I thought of this. The stamp set is Cowboy Silhouette (retired). The base is Black cardstock with a piece of Sasparilla paper from the level 2 pack. The brads are in pewter. Sponging is done in Barn Red ink. Bottom one's base is from the Star Dust bulk paper pack. The white is on Moonstruck cardstock. The stamp set is Beauty of Christmas (retired), but one of my favorites. The trees are covered in Fun Flock for snow. The white is sponged with Topiary ink. The ribbon is grosgrain in Moonstruck. This is for Dec. All the above products are from Close to My Heart.

I hope you liked these. I enjoyed doing them and am very excited for the girls to do their calendars. I hope they like them too. They usually tweek them in some way to make them their own, which is great. Until next time.

More Calendar Pixs

Sorry about missing yesterday, but was super busy. My body is feeling it today. Made twice baked potatoes yesterday morning for the dinner last night. Took about 3 1/2 hours. Then went back and did the meat (pork loin). Everything came out wonderful. Had a dessert auction after dinner. We bought a Black Forest something and it was to die for. Had dark chocolate cake, a pudding with layers of pie cherry filling in between then whip cream and chocolate shavings on top. Probably 9 million calories, but totally worth it.

Today is 4 more of the calendar months. I not going in order if you didn't notice. I'm also not using alot of new stamp sets and paper. I buy papers and never know what to do with them so I have a pretty good stash. I love these stamp sets and have bought some new ones but styles change and the new ones I have aren't quiet for months, except the hearts I used. Two of these next 4 are not retired and they've become some of my favorites. If you are die hard stamper you have your favorites and the ones you buy are something you'll use forever. When I started with Close to My Heart all their stamps were wood. I bought a ton cause I loved the imprints. Then they went to acrylic on some of the sets I had and I thought, I've got these why buy more of the same they still work great so I bought new ones and kept the old. So some of these images are done with wooden stamps. The snowman is for January. It's from Magical Season and stamped in black and colored with black, twilight and brown. There is glitter on the body and flakes around it. The base paper is from the Aspen level 2 packet. The big punch is from Marvy and done with Desert Sand cardstock. 2. Is for May, the flower is done in two step stamping in Blush & Tulip ink. The stamp set is Friendships Blessing. The sponging is done with Garden Green. The base paper is from the Floral paper pack level 2 on Garden Green cardstock. 3. Is Cranberry ink distress on White cardstock. The blue with stars is from a very old paper pack. The firecracker is from Snap, Crackle, Pop, a retired set. It's stamped in Black & Cranberry. The spark is stamped in Sunflower and glitter was added. This is for July. 4. Is done on Enchanted paper pack in bulk. The scarcrow, pumpkin & crow were stamped on scraps and colored with markers. This stamp set is one of my old wood ones called Hey There, it came out in acrylic and is now retired. I hope you are enjoying these and come back to see the rest. The class is next Sunday. Perpetual (Event) Calendar

Happy Friday or should I say TGIF, when your retired everyday is either Friday, Sat. or Sun., just ask my husband. I kinda have to remember what day it is since I teach a different class each day. Has been nice to not have school this week. Got quite a bit done. Did all my little books, then got some more. Will have another birthday book to share tomorrow.

Started working on my Event Calendar. I love this calendar and use it all the time. Sorry it turned out kind of long, but that's how it is, long. If I didn't people (family) wouldn't get cards close to their birthdays. I call it a perpetual calendar as you use it year after year. To me it's a recording of history. I have my folks birthdays and when they passed on it, also when their anniversary was. You can pretty much put whatever you want to remember from year to year. What I'm sharing is some of the tops for the months. Some of the months pretty much speak for themselves, but I'll explain anyway. Far left is March,back is Clover Green cardstock. It's random stamped in Clover Green. The hat is from a long retired set called St. Patrick Surprise. It's colored with a gold leaf pen and Clover Green marker. Moving to the right, February. Back is Cranberry cardstock, with a stash doily layered. The heart is from the stamp set " Heart Throb. I used embossing ink and used white embossing powder. Then rolled with Cranberry ink. I think the technique is called Joseph's Coat. The bottom left is for November. Back is Goldrush cardstock, layered with Natures Treasures paper level 2. The image is from retired Give Thanks, it's colored with markers. The edges are sponged with Goldrush ink. The last one is for March. The back paper is from Paper Garden level 2, then layered with Pedal cardstock. The Butterfly is from retired Spring Possibilities. The technique is called Twist and Kiss. It's done by inking a solid stamp and twisting another stamp over it. Makes for a very cool effect. All items used in these tops are from Close to My Heart. The hat is from D.O.T.S (now CTMH). I have more in different stages of not done. The workshop is set for Sunday, Feb. 21 at the East Elementary Library at 10. I have 10 signed up but could take 12. It should be alot of fun. These also make great gifts.
